25

What is this mission you ask?  (No, it was not sent by the Angel Gabriel).  It is a challenge that I am assigning to myself—to bake for the next 25 days, ending on Christmas.  These 25 days are my challenge.

I have accepted this challenge as a way to return to what I love.  After laying low after the summer, I want to start sharing my baking adventures again (part of the reason I revamped my blog).  This tangible goal—25 days, 25 recipes—will be a journey leading up to Christmas.  It is the season for giving and I will give you this promise:  I am committed to baking a variety of sweets everyday, mastering new recipes, and sharing the daily adventures on my new and improved site.

Let me preface this journey by saying that Christmas is my favorite holiday.  Ask any of my friends and they will back me up when I say I go a little Christmas crazy.  “You know, deck them halls and all that stuff?”  I love the countless Christmas movies, songs, and traditions, so be prepared for the references.

In the past week I have shared the 25 days of baking with family and friends and their feedback consisted of the following questions.

25 different recipes, do you have them picked already?

I have about a dozen in the works.  To all my friends and followers, I would greatly appreciate any requests or ideas you may have!

How will you make them all Christmas themed?

Let’s be honest, baking any delicious treat is already reminiscent of the holiday season. But I plan to take it up a notch and incorporate everything from figgy pudding to eggnog and gingerbread.

And the most popular question…

What are you going to do with all these baked goods?!

I am not going to be eating all those cookies (although, I could give Santa a run for his money).  Instead, I will be sending them out in packages, boxes, and bags.  (This answer made my friends very happy).

Some people spread cheer through volunteering, singing, or donating to charities.  I share the Christmas Spirit through my baking.  Giving to neighbors, friends, and my community make others happy which in turn makes me happy.  After all, baking is a labor of love and this is the perfect time of year to spread the love.  As you all celebrate the holiday season, I hope you will join me as I continue to challenge myself in the kitchen with holiday cheer.
