I remember the first time I laid eyes on Nutella… it was love at first site. The year was 2006. I had just arrived in Italy for a 3 week European trip. During the course of the long flight, I remembered a few items that I had forgotten so I stopped in at the Duty Free. I walked through the aisles and found the necessary items. As I was heading toward the checkout there she was… sitting on the shelf. Her velvety, chocolate color had caught my eye. Intrigued, I walked over and laid my eyes on her… she was adorned with hazelnuts and a smear of chocolate, but didn’t speak a lick of English, only the language of love–Italian. This did not stop me. I picked her up, took her to the register, and checked her out. And as they say, the rest is history.
Nutella has always been one of my loves, it has that rich, chocolatey flavor with a touch of hazelnut. The only partner better for Nutella would be bananas. They really were meant for each other and these Nutella Banana Muffins epitomize that love. Nutella’s smooth swirl of hazelnut chocolate perfectly compliments the sweet tenderness of the banana muffins. If you don’t believe me, try them yourself!
