Chocolate butterscotch fudge is a delicious no-bake treat. This M&M-topped fudge only requires four ingredients!
Candy season is creeping up on us. Halloween is a few weeks away and I realized I haven’t made fudge since last holiday season. Well, I solved that pretty quickly with this no-bake chocolate butterscotch fudge!
That’s one of the beauties of fudge—it’s a no-bake recipe. No oven needed, just a microwave! Melt that chocolate and butterscotch down into thick, decadent fudge. And you know what makes fudge even better? Candy.
I walked the aisles of Target in search of the perfect candy to pair with my chocolate butterscotch fudge. It didn’t take long because, well, it’s Target and they already have all the Halloween goods out on display. I’m talking costumes, decorations, candy, the whole shebang.
When it comes to candy, I’m a sucker. I’m the one who grabs those new flavors sitting at the end of the aisle on display. This time my impulsive sweet tooth paid off because I stumbled upon M&M’s Boo-tterscotch candies. (By the way, how cute is that name?)
I couldn’t have asked for a better candy for this fudge. The Boo-tterscotch M&M’s are white chocolate and butterscotch flavored, which is the perfect complement to chocolate butterscotch fudge. And lucky for me, they are exclusive to Target along with Dove’s milk chocolate ghosts, which I stuck in the freezer as a go-to chocolate treat.
Toppings really makes ordinary fudge extraordinary. They give texture, flavor and even color to smooth, dark chocolatey fudge. And I liked how the M&M’s were white chocolate because it added more flavor dimension to the fudge.
While I’m talking about flavors, let me tell you about the fudge layers. They are filled with texture and flavors blending together. It starts with a classic, no-frills chocolate fudge. Then a smooth butterscotch fudge layer is rippled on top (I used an offset spatula to stir the two-layers together slightly). Finally, to top it all off, are the M&M’s.
Chocolate butterscotch fudge is simply layers of goodness and it only requires five ingredients: chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, sweetened condensed milk, butter and M&M’s (all of which I picked up on my trip to Target).
This chocolate butterscotch fudge was so easy to make I didn’t hesitate giving some away to friends. I knew it wouldn’t take long to share this first batch so I could get to work on another!
