Mint Julep Cupcakes

Bourbon and creme de menthe liquor give these Mint Julep cupcakes a kick of booze with the delicious flavor of everyone's favorite Kentucky Derby cocktail!

Save yourself some time by gathering all ingredients before getting started.

Preheat oven to 350° F and line a muffin pan.

Whisk together flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl.

In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together butter and sugar.

With the mixer running, add eggs one at a time, then add extracts.

Beat until creamy, about 2 minutes.

With the mixer on low, speed, slowly beat in 1/2 of the flour mixture...

...Then add the milk and liquors to the batter...

...Lastly, add the rest of the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

Fill baking cups 3/4 of the way full. Bake for 18-20 minutes. Then cool on a wire rack.

Meanwhile, make the Mint Julep frosting!

Cream butter on medium speed until smooth.

Turn the mixer to low and beat in salt and 1/2 of the powdered sugar.

Mix in bourbon and creme de menthe, remaining powdered sugar, and green food dye (if you like).

Pipe the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes.
