Line a cookie sheet with wax paper (parchment paper works too). Set aside.
Place dark chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave bowl on 50% power level for 1 minute. Remove and stir with a rubber spatula. Microwave again on 50% power level stopping every 30 seconds to stir the chocolate until melted. This should not take longer than 3 minutes total.
Transfer chocolate to a tall glass for easy dipping for the pretzel rods.
Dip one pretzel rod into the chocolate (see tips below). Twist the rod to let the excess chocolate drip off. Hold the rod over newspaper (or the sink to prevent a mesand shake sprinkles on all sides. Place the pretzel on prepared wax paper to dry.
Repeat until you’ve coated all the pretzels. Let dry completely at room temperature. To speed this up, you can put the pretzels in the freezer for 10 minutes. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
