Cheers to the weekend! Today I’m sharing my recipe for strawberry mojitos with basil. Fruity, refreshing and the perfect amount of sweet, you will want to make a whole pitcher of this strawberry basil mojito.
Entertaining is a constant theme on my blog so it only makes sense that I start sharing more cocktail recipes, right? Spring is perfect timing to get the ball rolling as the weather gets warmer and people begin entertaining outside.
This refreshing strawberry mojito with basil has everything I look for in a cocktail: Fresh fruit, herb/spice, simple syrup and good liquor. I always choose a fruit that is in season because it makes the cocktail all the difference in flavor. Strawberries are nice and juicy right now, not to mention crazy cheap. To really make the flavor sing I infused the simple syrup with strawberries.
Basil adds a depth of flavor to the mojito and compliments strawberries nicely. To make sure its flavor is evident in the mojito, massage the leaves between your fingers for a minute before adding it to the cocktail.
To make the cocktail a true mojito I used lime and seltzer to cut the sweetness a bit and white rum as the liquor. This strawberry mojito with basil has an incredible marriage of flavors—I suggest doubling the recipe and making a pitcher. Tip: The cocktail tastes all the better when the basil has a few minutes to infuse itself into the mojito.
