Learn how to make smores dip in a skillet! It is so easy and requires only four ingredients. This summer dessert will be ready in no time!
Smores are arguably the official dessert of summer. Three ingredients, a camp fire and you have a ooey gooey, lick-your-fingers-it’s-so-good dessert. What you don’t know is that this dessert can just as easily be made into a dip. Find your iron skillet and I will show you how to make smores dip!
First you need ingredients—chocolate chips, marshmallows, and graham crackers—the basics. A tablespoon of butter will be helpful too as it will prevent the marshmallows from sticking to the skillet. In other words, it will make clean up easier!
Start with a preheated cast iron skillet. The heat will melt the butter as you grease the pan and start the chocolate melting process sooner. If you’d like to make this a real classic smores dip, substitute Hershey’s chocolate bars instead of chocolate chips. Break up six regular chocolate bars and layer the bits on the bottoms of the skillet.
Next, layer marshmallow halves on top of the chocolate chips . I found that cutting the marshmallows in half made the dip easier to eat. Marshmallows expand when baked and a baked marshmallow half turns out to be the perfect bite-size!
The smores dip is ready when the marshmallows turn a nice golden brown (about 5 minutes in the oven). If you like an even toastier marshmallow, leave the dip in for another two or three minutes!
To complete the smores experience, serve the dip with graham crackers and use them to get a nice scoop of melted chocolate and toasted marshmallow. Just like smores over a campfire, each bite has crunchy graham crackers, melted chocolate and gooey marshmallows.

Thanks for sharing at Fiesta Friday 179 – this looks very naughty but nice!

Could you make this in something other than a cast iron skillet, like a glass pie dish or baking dish? Thank you!
Haley says
Hi! Yes, you certainly can if it is a similar size. Make sure you grease the pan since the marshmallows are sticky!
